In Florida, the sales associate prelicensing course, which is the course you need to get your real estate license, takes 63 hours. I’ve seen schools that offer this as a 7-day course. I’ve seen schools that offer it as an 8-week course. Some colleges even offer if over the course of entire semester, which might be 12 weeks.
For a 7-day course, you would have to be in class for nine hours a day, not including lunch. That is a long day for anybody. Not only is it a long day for the students, it’s a long day for the instructor. Your instructor will not be at their best by Day 4. When you get home, you are going to be too tired to review material or study. However, you do get the class finished in a week. If the school teaches toward their end-of-class exam, you will probably pass the class exam.
You will still have to study a lot for the state exam. The material was coming at you so fast, it’s difficult to know how much you retained. The instructor was probably not at their best toward the end of the week, so you might have to read a little bit more to learn some of it.

The sales associate prelicensing class need to get a license in Florida is 63 hours. There are a variety of schedules that people use to accomplish that.
Another popular schedule is a two-week class. With this schedule, you attend 6-7 hours a day. This was the schedule when I took the class. This is doable as you will still be able to study a little after class. You also have the weekends to catch up on reading and studying. This is a comfortable pace for most full-time students.
A part-time schedule ranges anywhere from 4-8 weeks. With this schedule, you go about four hours a day, depending on the schedule. You might go every day, or maybe just a few days a week. If the instructor uses class time to review material, this is a great schedule. If the instructor does not review, that puts more of the onus on you to remember material for longer periods.
At Demetree School of Real Estate, our most popular class is the five-week class that meets three nights a week. We spend a lot of class time reviewing old material. Also, when the class only meets three times a week, you have more time to do homework, study on your own, etc.
In our weekend review classes, we have many students from other schools who either failed the state exam or aren’t confident enough to take the state exam. The students who took the seven-day class are the ones who say, “I wish I had taken a longer class.”
Ultimately, it is up to each student to decide which schedule works best for them and fits into their life. If none of the schedules fit into your life, there is always the online self-study class. With this, you can move through the material at your own pace. Some students finish this in one week. Others take several months.
