When people are taking the Florida real estate prelicensing class, I encourage them to take the state exam as soon as possible after the class. If they take the Demetree School of Real Estate weekend state exam review class that meets, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, I tell them to take the state exam on Monday.
Some people decide that they need several weeks or months before they will feel “ready” to take the real estate state exam. You will never feel “ready.” OK, maybe that’s not true – I’ve been teaching this material for 20 years. I’d take the exam tomorrow if I could, and I’m pretty sure I’d feel ready. However, when I took the exam, I had studied more that exam that I had any exam in my life, and I still didn’t feel ready. I passed on the first try that I took it.
Contrast that to the person who waits several weeks until they feel “ready.” Something happens during those weeks. They get busy with work, and don’t study as much as they intended to. They postpone it a few more weeks. Then it’s summer and they have a few vacations planned. They postpone it a few more weeks. Then they have a friend get married next month, so they want to do it after that. Then someone close to them has a medical situation. Etc. Etc. Etc. Here they are almost two years later and they are panickily trying to study and take the exam before their certificate expires. Not surprisingly, they often don’t do well.
Anecdotally, the sooner you take the exam prior to finishing the prelicensing class, the better off you will be.
If you have taken the prelicensing class yet, but have thought about getting not real estate, take the leap today. Check out the schedule for classes at Demetree School of Real Estate.
